The unfortunate demise of actor Tommy Lister has saddened the entire world, especially the sports community.

Aged 62, the former wrestler and actor, was reportedly ill. His manager Cindy Cowan claimed to TMZ, Lister displayed COVID-19 symptoms which forced him to withdraw from an ongoing shoot. Although he initially appeared fine, things seemingly worsened post-Wednesday when Lister’s family members and friends heard nothing from him.

The Law enforcement team made their way into the residence and recovered the actor. Tommy Lister was then taken to a nearby hospital and was pronounced dead. However, the exact reason for his death is yet to be disclosed.

Several athletes have mourned over the loss and former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson also paid his respect to Tommy Lister.

‘Iron’ Mike turned to social media and wrote, “RIP to Tommy Lister. You will be missed.”

Apart from Mike Tyson, Lister’s former co-star Ice Cube is also among the many to have shed tears over the huge loss. The rapper took to Twitter and wrote a lengthy message.

Other than being an actor, Lister was also an A-listed wrestler. He starred alongside Hulk Hogan in the 1989 flick ‘No Holds Barred’. The movie was based on wrestling and Lister donned the cap of Zeus, the bad guy in the flick.

He received worldwide appraisal for his role and became one of the most popular characters of the time. Lister did several other ventures later in his career- Friday, Next Friday, Little Nicky.

He also played a small role in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight (2008). While there are several more in the mix, the veteran actor is sadly no longer with us.

2020 has already been a harsh year with the passing of so many actors and athletes. While we are on the final days, the year continues to sting us with unpleasantness. Well, amid all the sadness, it’s time for the fans to bid goodbye to their ‘Zeus’.
