The Arizona Cardinals have two notable starters not practicing ahead of the team’s return from the bye week against the Miami Dolphins.

Running back Kenyan Drake was out Wednesday due to an ankle injury and remained as such Thursday. Cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick was also out both days with a thigh issue.

Defensive lineman Jordan Phillips, though, did practice in a limited fashion on Thursday after being out Wednesday with a hamstring problem. Linebacker Jordan Hicks has been limited on Wednesday and Thursday due to ankle and wrist injuries.

For Miami, leading rusher Myles Gaskin did not practice Wednesday and then was added to the injured reserve on Thursday because of a knee injury.

Miami acquired running back DeAndre Washington at the trade deadline from the Kansas City Chiefs, while Matt Breida, Gaskin’s backup, missed practice on Thursday after also being out Wednesday.

Running back Patrick Laird was a noteworthy upgrade for Miami from a limited participant on Wednesday to a full go on Thursday after dealing with an ankle injury.

With Washington having to get through COVID-19 protocols, that could leave veteran running back Jordan Howard as a potential starter for Sunday’s matchup, and Howard has been a healthy scratch as of late for Miami.
