Restaurants, breweries, and bars offering virtual and outdoor events and Halloween-themed takeout menus
Despite the ongoing health crisis, several restaurants and bars around Atlanta plan to help people celebrate Halloween by hosting virtual costume parties or murder mystery dinners over Zoom, socially distant soirées on patios and rooftops, and offer spirited cocktail, beer, and food menus for takeout.

Outdoor and Socially Distant Events
Georgia Beer Garden on Edgewood Avenue transformed its spacious backyard into a spooky pet cemetery for Halloween as part of the outdoor portion of the beer bar’s reservation-only pop-up Nightmare Bar upstairs. The pet-friendly patio at Georgia Beer Garden is open to the public for beer, the regular food menu, and movies on the big screen. Nightmare Bar is serving Halloween-themed cocktails and food specials, and accommodates no more than 15 people during each reserved time slot. Reserve a time slot for Nightmare Bar here. The Howell Mill Road vegetarian and vegan food truck park is hosting a day-long Halloween celebration on October 31, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. This free admission event includes music, Halloween fun, and plenty of vegan and vegetarian bites from the food trucks parked at the lot. Costumes encouraged. Masks required.
Prior to the official debut of the food hall along Chattahoochee Avenue, The Works is hosting an outdoor Halloween celebration on October 31, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. The family-friendly event includes live music, giveaways, a costume contest, food from the stalls at forthcoming Chattahoochee Food Works and Fox Bros. Grab a few beers while carving a pumpkin at this West End brewpub along the Westside Beltline trail. From October 25 through October 30, Best End Brewing will provide people with a pumpkin and carving tools to design their gourd. On October 31, the carved pumpkins will be posted to Best End’s social media accounts where people will vote for the best design. The winner is announced on November 3. Register for the carving contest here. The brewpub plans to host a human and dog-friendly costume contest on Halloween night, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Prizes for the best costumes will be awarded. Head over to late-night cocktail and bar food pop-up the Patio at Lazy Betty for Halloween-themed cocktails, bites, and a costume contest (with prizes) on October 31, from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. The evening features tarot card readings, scary movies outdoors, and a photo booth. Masks required when not seated.
From 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Halloween day, luxe shopping complex Buckhead Village District will offer family-friendly activities, including pumpkin decorating, pre-packaged candy stations for trick-or-treaters, live music, cocktails, coffee, and complimentary cupcakes. There’s even a dog costume contest in partnership with forthcoming Fetch Park. The winner will receive a free year-long membership to the dog park. Costumes highly encouraged. Kick off Halloween day with trick-or-treating for the kids on the Roof of Ponce City Market, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The family-friendly Halloween event features complimentary popcorn and cotton candy and trick-or-treating at Skyline Park. Admission is $15 for adults and $7 for children. Masks required to enter.
At 5 p.m. on Halloween evening, the Roof transforms for the 21-and-up crowd with themed cocktails, complimentary popcorn and cotton candy, and DJs. $20 cover. Costumes encouraged. Masks required to enter.
The Capitol View neighborhood food truck park hosts its inaugural Halloween party on October 31 at 5 p.m. This family-friendly event includes a live DJ, fire pits, a costume contest, spiked apple cider, food trucks, and scary movies on the park’s big screens. Head into either the Avondale Estates or West End location of Wild Heaven Beer for a flight paired with Halloween candy, October 30 through November 1. Each of the six small beer pours comes paired with an individually wrapped bag of candy for $18. Masks required at both locations when not seated or when speaking to staff.
The Grant Park brewery is hosting a day of Halloween activities, starting at 3 p.m. on October 31. The day features food, trick-or-treating and painting pumpkins, and a costume contest for kids, followed by an adult and dog costume contest in the evening. Prizes awarded for the best costumes. Summerhill brewery Halfway Crooks is collaborating with old school video rental shop Videodrome for an outdoor screening of the movie “Zombi” (European cut of “Dawn of the Dead”) on Friday, October 30, at 8 p.m. The evening includes a special beer release of American India pale ale Adjust Tracking, along with food. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and find a seat in the back parking lot. Masks required.
Grab beers and a seat outside for scary movies on Friday, October 30, and Saturday, October 31, at the Stone Mountain brewery. People who show up in costume get 10 percent off their beer. Masks required.
Catch a scary movie at the Plaza Theatre’s drive-in located in the back parking lot or at the parking lot of Dad’s Garage in the Old Fourth Ward. On Halloween night, the Plaza drive-in will screen The Rocky Horror Picture Show at 7:30 p.m. Grab takeout from nearby restaurants like The Righteous Room, Southern Belle, or Sweet Auburn BBQ to enjoy in the car. Virtual Dinners and Events
The Iberian Pig Decatur’s virtual murder mystery dinner on Halloween night
The pandemic isn’t stopping The Iberian Pig’s annual murder mystery dinner in Decatur on Halloween night. This year the event is being held virtually over Zoom and includes a Halloween-themed tapas dinner for two, featuring pork cheek tacos, a salad, and Iberico mac and cheese paired with a bottle of wine. Acting roles for the murder mystery dinner are first-come, first-serve. Dinner available for pick-up between 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on October 31. The murder mystery dinner begins promptly at 7:30 p.m. $100 per dinner. Purchase dinner with Zoom link access here.
This virtual, interactive live event hosted by the Horizon Theatre Company includes cocktails, party games, spirits, and a medium. A Zoom link to access the event will be sent via email once tickets are purchased, along with a list of props to assemble to interact with the ghosts and a recipe for a cocktail. Spirited Meals, Cocktails, and Takeout
The Buckhead location of the Iberian Pig is offering a Halloween party pack meal for takeout that includes one dozen wings, five pork cheek tacos, patatas bravas, jamon Iberico mac and cheese, and the option to add cinnamon apple sangria. The Howell Mill Road Spanish tapas restaurant on Atlanta’s west side is offering a paella special for takeout Friday and Saturday evenings throughout October. Loyal Q and Brew Halloween night family meals
The Alpharetta-based restaurant is offering a family meal deal on Halloween night with a choice of barbecue, ribs, or chicken tenders paired with sides for delivery or curbside pick-up. For those opting to pick up their meal at the restaurant, it will be delivered to the car by costumed staff members. Meals feed up to four people and range from $35 to $45. The Benteen Park neighborhood beer garden is offering a mystery beer on draft through Halloween night. Patrons who purchase the beer get one guess at the name of the beer and the brewery that produced it. The mysterious brew will then be revealed on Halloween night with a winner receiving a free beer upon their next visit. On Halloween, people visiting Red’s Beer Garden are encouraged to show up in costume to receive a free beer. Dogs in costume receive a free treat, too. Masks required.
Head over to East Lake restaurant Poor Hendrix to order wings, fries, grilled cheese sandwiches, and falafel baskets paired with beer, wine, and cocktails from the window on the back patio, starting at 9 p.m. on Halloween night. Masks required.
The newly opened restaurant in Grant Park is offering a selection of eight Halloween-themed cocktails, including the Morgue-A-Rita: 21 made with jalapeño tequila and a dash of togarashi and the Silver Bullet with bourbon, maple syrup, orange bitters, and rosemary. Masks required. Patio available.
People who follow the Atlanta drinks scene are familiar with the cocktail creations from Atlanta bartender Mercedes O’Brien (Cold Beer, Gunshow). What started on Instagram as a way for O’Brien to demonstrate how to make a proper cocktail at home while sheltering in place has now become a full-blown cocktail kit service. For Halloween, O’Brien is offering two themed cocktails to compile at home: Red Rum with iced Campari and dark rum and the Overlook made with rye whiskey, punt e mes, and cherry herring.
