At the end of October, Simona Halep gave some unfortunate news to all of her fans. She revealed that she had tested positive for the coronavirus which is spreading all around the world.

At the time, the Romanian said that she only had mild symptoms and that she was recovering well. Now, she has announced that she has completely recovered and she did through her Twitter handle.

After she announced this good news, the Romanian engaged in some better with her coach Darren Cahill. He asked her if they could begin training again and Simona enthusiastically said yes. However, Cahill felt that she needed a break before doing so and Halep agreed with him.

Before Halep was infected with the coronavirus pandemic, she played the 2020 French Open. She had a disappointing run there as she was thrashed by Iga Swiatek in the fourth round.

Her loss there meant that she would be Grand Slam-less in 2020. Considering that she won 2 Slams over the course of 2018 and 2019, the Romanian will definitely not be happy about this. After she takes a small break, she will return to training as she prepares for the 2021 Australian Open.

The Australian Open is a Grand Slam title that Halep has failed to win in her career. She did come close back in 2018 as she reached the final. However, she sadly lost to Caroline Wozniacki in a thrilling match there.

The Romanian will now be hoping that she can go all the way when she plays in Melbourne. If she wins the title there, it will help her regain the No. 1 ranking from Ashleigh Barty.
